Dreaming Of...

Although I love the rain, it's been pelting down here for a few days now... which got me thinking of the Bahamas! Pink sand, warm, turquoise water, sunny days....aaaah! These pics are courtesy of India Hicks hotel called The Landing on Harbour Island. Could this be as close to heaven as we get here on earth? Enjoy...

While On The Subject of Frankie....

Now, I know that some may say that I'm a little long in the tooth to be a fan of Frankie magazine - but I say, to hell with it! If you can't beat these funky young things then you might as well join them! The mag is just gorgeous, and filled with the most inspirational people and finds - so below a few pics courtesy of Frankie...

Marjorie Liucci's Beautiful Work....

Right now I'm so inspired by these beautiful illustrations by Marjorie Liucci that appeared in Frankie magazine. Aren't they just so pretty? Inspired by rainy days and bird songs  - she says that the colours that she finds outside her window is what keeps her work colourful and alive. If you'd like to see more, check out Marjorie's Etsy store, called MarmeeCraft where you'll find her prints, original paintings, dolls and lovely felted creatures. I can feel a shopping spree coming on!!!

Anthropologie Inspiration...

Just a litle hit of Anthropologie inspiration....

What a Find...

Just a quick post to share with you my new, thrifty find - a three piece lounge suite (2 seater sofa and two armchairs) in great condition for only $300! I'd been looking for an armchair for my daughters bedroom and stopped off at the local antique's store and couldn't believe my luck! Three for one! Although there is something endearing about this fabric - it is a little worn - so I'm just in the throes of looking for something new to give this set a new lease on life. I'll keep you posted as to what I find. And to where it will live.

A Little Shabby Chic is Good For The Soul.....

It's Shabby Chic Tuesday! It's true, a little Shabby Chic in one's life is good for the soul - this first bedroom is my daughter's idea of pure heaven. And so, a couple of Shabby Chic images to brighten up your day...

Heaven at home... Photographed by Francois Halard.

Sublime Interiors....

More beautiful images from the portfolio of Francois Halard.
His work has such a lovely quality to it and the interiors that he photographs are so grand and eclectic. Love the chairs in this first pic the most. Hope you like them too.

Need A New Home....

For a cool $7 million or so, this one could be yours! Isn't it divine. You'll know, if you're a regular to my blog, that I'm a big lover of old timber homes. They have so much texture, detail and soul - having carried the energy of the generations who have graced their halls. Hunting around for inspiration for my own more humble reno, I came across this grand old dame here, which is situated not far from where I live. Of course, I had to take a sticky beak! And I wasn't disappointed. No stone has been left unturned, every detail has been meticulously restored with love and care. So inspiring, I hope you love the pics....

Akira For Designer Rugs

For those of you who know your Australian fashion then you will have already been introduced to the beauty of Akira Isogawa's work. Everybody else will be in for a treat when they click here
For interior design buffs, Akira, in conjunction with Designer Rugs, has created the most sublime collection of floor rugs. It's so exciting to see Akira's beautiful work translated into the home environment - his rugs are richly patterned using the colours and motifs of Japanese kimono's - and just make my heart skip a beat whenever I lay my eyes on them. Although, I may have to wait until my next life to actually live with one! Nonetheless, love, love, love...

Design Of A Different Kind....

It's true that design inspiration can be found anywhere - and right now it's the extraordinarily beautiful and theatrical children's clothes from Australian designers Paper Wings that's getting the creativity flowing. Have you ever seen children's clothing quite like this before? Not to mention the beautiful sets in these photographs. It makes sense that owners Jason Gibaud and Michelle Fallon are NIDA graduates in set design, cutting their designer teeth in the film industry. Too cute guys.... Hopefully adult sizes will be on the way soon....

Inspiration File...

I've just been going through one of my tear sheet files and came across this rather crumpled series of pics of Silvia Fendi's holiday house on the Italian island of Ponza. These gorgeous pics (from US Vogue, photographed by Francois Halard) have been a favourite of mine for a few years - the house is my favourite kind - colourful, decorative but with a sense of relaxation and reality. Hope you like them too!

Thanks Jo...

A big thank you to Jo from one of my favourite design blogs - Desire To Inspire. It's lovely to receive such a warm welcome to the world of blogging. Thanks again Jo for all of your support. Sx

Mmmm...

If weekends are for eating then could there be a more perfect way to go?  Just add a splash of red to complete the picture!
